Southern Channel Islands – Tanner Bank and Santa Barbara Island

Our “Fall Adventure” trip leaves Santa Barbara at 9 pm on Wednesday, October 23th, and returns around 5 pm on Sunday, October 27th. The goal of this trip is to do something different from the standard Southern Channel Islands trips. If the weather cooperates we will be diving seldom visited spots like Tanner/Cortes Bank or Begg Rock at San Nicholas for the first three days, and then will travel to a northern island (Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, or Anacapa) for the last day. Enjoy beautiful kelp forests, stunning underwater views, and the wide variety of fascinating southern Californian marine life! Late fall is a great time of year to explore outer banks and exposed islands. The winter storms haven’t yet arrived and the wind can go glassy calm. Plus the water is still warm!
We have chartered the Conception of the Truth Aquatics Fleet. This will be a fantastic trip and we would love to have you join us! The Sea Landing Dive Center is located within steps from the Truth Aquatic vessels for convenient equipment rental (tanks and weights are not provided on-board). See more details “Preparing for your Channel Islands Trip” on our Currents page.

INSURANCE: We strongly encourage purchasing Divers Alert Network Travel Insurance. They off competitive rates, and your money goes to a fantastic program. Most divers-in-the-know also have DAN Dive Accident Insurance, which requires a Membership. Family Membership is $55 annually, or $35 for Individual Membership. We have the Guardian level, but you could go Master, which costs $40 per person. If you have the opportunity to use our referral number, we get points: 1403373. DAN has helped many of our guests (including ourselves) recoup money for medical expenses and lost dives (from ear infections, etc); unfortunately, we have also seen a few divers need helicopter rides to a decompression chamber. DAN insurance gives you the ability to listen to symptoms which otherwise you might ignore.
